CDC investigates Listeria outbreak

WASHINGTON D.C. (ADAMS) – The CDC is investigating an outbreak of Listeria that’s left one person dead and over a dozen others hospitalized.

On Wednesday, it was announced 16 cases had been confirmed over six states. One person in Maryland died, and one woman who got sick lost her pregnancy.

The CDC says the actual number of infected people is likely higher because people can recover from the sickness without needing outside medical care. A large majority of patients reported eating meat or cheese from deli counters prior to falling ill.
