Two family pets killed in fire southwest of downtown

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Two family pets were killed in a fire southwest of downtown Fort Wayne. Around 9:30 Tuesday morning, the Fort Wayne Firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 1907 Hale Avenue, close to Brooklyn Avenue and Taylor Street.
Upon arrival, they found smoke coming from the second-floor windows.

Firefighters entered the house and found a small fire on the first floor. The fire was extinguished and the house was searched for occupants. Occupants were not home at the time of the fire but the family pets perished. The fire was contained in approximately 20 minutes. Firefighters were assisted by FWPD, TRAA, NCE, NIPSCO and AEP. The home suffered minor fire and water damage and moderate smoke damage.
