Coroner identifies victim in Sunday’s west-side shooting

UPDATE (October 15, 2019):

The Allen County Coroner has identified the victim of a shooting Sunday on Fort Wayne’s west-side.
The coroner released the following Tuesday afternoon:

“The autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin, of the male victim that was located on the lawn located in the 600 Block of Runnion Avenue in Fort Wayne, on October 13, 2019, at approximately 18:04 hours. He has been positively identified as Pablo Guzman Vasquez, male, hispanic, 40 years of age, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Cause of Death has been determined to be Multiple Gunshot Wound(s) and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Pablo Guzman Vasquez is the 22nd Homicide victim in Allen County for 2019.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.”

ORIGINAL STORY (October 13, 2019):

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police in Fort Wayne are looking for whoever pulled the trigger in a deadly shooting.

Officers say they got a 911 call about 6 p.m. on Sunday. When unit from the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 600 block of Runnion Avenue they located an adult male on a sidewalk suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the male deceased.

At this time, the only information available is that someone called 911 to report hearing gunshots in the area, and when officers arrived, they located the adult male victim. Officers checked a nearby house that may be involved; whether or not that house was indeed involved is currently under investigation. There were no other injuries reported.

Detectives are searching for and interviewing witnesses.

There is currently no suspect information available.

The identity of the decedent, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
