This morning, Fort Wayne Homicide Division along with Gang and Narcotic Units did arrest Ronnie Miles Jr. as well as a juvenile (name withheld due to age). They were both arrested in connection with yesterday’s shooting homicide of Jaden Nelson M/B/19 at Avondale and Pettit around 4:11 pm. The juvenile charged in this case has been in custody on unrelated charges since yesterday. These new charges were added this afternoon.
Yesterday, Jaden Nelson was shot at Avondale and Pettit for what investigators learned was a robbery involving drugs. Nelson then drove himself to the corner of Pettit and Calhoun where he was called in as a shooting victim. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
After working through the night detectives were able to pinpoint Ronnie Miles Jr. as a person of interest. This morning around 10:30 am Walker was picked up and brought down for questioning by Detectives. After questioning he was charged with Murder, Felony Murder, Robbery and Criminal Recklessness. The juvenile involved was also charged with Robbery and Felony Murder.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say a man is dead after a shooting on Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., police dispatch received a call from the Phillips 66 gas station at Calhoun and Pettit Ave in reference to a shooting of an adult male.
Officers arrived on scene and found one victim with gunshot wounds. Shortly after the initial call, a second call was received at dispatch for a possible shooting at Avondale Dr. and Pettit Ave.
Initial investigation learned the victim was shot at the Avondale Dr. and Pettit Ave area.
He then drove to the gas station where dispatched received the first call. Police and medics arrived on the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
He later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was declared deceased. During the investigation, a juvenile male was taken into custody as a person of interest.
The Allen County identified the victim with the following on Monday morning:
“At about 1615 hours on May 19, 2020 the Fort Wayne Police Department was notified of a
shooting investigation, where the victim arrived at the gas station located at the corner of
Pettit Avenue and Calhoun Street. The victim was transported from this scene to a local
hospital and admitted to the hospital. Death was pronounced a short time after arrival. The
Allen County Coroner was contacted and advised of the death.
The autopsy has been completed and the next of kin has been notified of the death of Jaden
Diaz Lee Nelson, male black, 19 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Cause of
Death is Gunshot Wound of the Torso and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Jaden Diaz Lee Nelson is the 15th homicide in Allen County for 2020.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, The Allen
County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.”
