Search for missing 81-year-old man meets a sad end

UPDATE (June 9, 2022): Fort Wayne police say that the search for a missing elderly man has come to a sad end. Officials began looking for are still looking for 81-year-old Steven Clemmer last weekend.

When police put out the word, they said he was believed to be in extreme danger and may have required medical aid. Officers said he suffers from Alzheimer’s.

The last time anyone had seen Mr. Clemmer was on Lake Court on the northwest side of Fort Wayne.

After using “all resources available”, officials said that he was found dead in a pond on Hera Court a couple of streets over on Wednesday afternoon.

FWPD and Indiana Stae Police released the following:

At approximately 8:00 PM Saturday night an elder male, Steven Clemmer, was last seen on foot in the area of the 1500 block of Sevan Lake Ct; Woodland Lake
The Fort Wayne Police Department has been actively investigating the missing person case involving Steven Clemmer since June 4th, Saturday when the incident was reported.
Steven went missing around 6pm, June 3rd and was last seen in the area of 1500 Seven Lake Ct. The Fort Wayne Police Dept. utilized all resources available and requested additional resources in an attempt to locate Steven Clemmer. Unfortunately, Steven was located deceased, in the pond behind 9600 Hera Ct. June 8th around 5pm.
The agencies that assisted in the rescue attempt were: Indiana Search and Response Team, DNR, and the Fire Department Water Rescue Team. The FWPD deployed the Air Support Team (drones) in concert with the Indiana Search and Response Team (all volunteer) which utilized 7 trail and human remain detection dogs over the course of the search. The Fire Department Water Rescue Team also aggressively searched the ponds in that area.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the cause and manner of death. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Prosecutor’s Office, and the Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police are still looking for a missing 81-year-old man. Officials say that Steven Clemmer was last seen Saturday. He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical aid.

Mr. Clemmer is an 81yr old male white, 5’6”, 145lbs, gray short hair, and brown eyes. He suffers from Alzheimer’s and may appear confused.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Mr. Clemmer. When found, please call FWPD at 427-1222.
