Coroner identifies woman killed in crash on Jefferson

The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman killed in a crash early Friday morning.

The coroner released the following:

On Friday, June 11, 2021 at about 0023 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a fatal crash located in the intersection of West Jefferson and Engle Road, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, with the Fort Wayne Police Department finding 2 vehicles involved in a crash. The Three Rivers Ambulance Authority medics pronounced the driver, Lisa Marie Ellert, a female ,white, age 62, of Fort Wayne, Indiana dead at the scene. Medics transported the other driver to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.

An autopsy has been conducted and the next of kin has been notified.

The Cause of Death is Multiple Blunt Force Injuries due to Motor Vehicle Crash and the Manner of Death is Accident.

Lisa Marie Ellert is the 16th fatal motor vehicle crash in Allen County for 2021.

This crash is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police Department officials say that a man was hurt and a woman was killed in a crash early Friday morning.

Officers say that they think speed and alcohol were factors. Police are still investigating.

FWPD officials released the following:

On June 11th, 2021 shortly after midnight FWPD Officers responded to a two vehicle accident, party injured at Jefferson Blvd. and Engle Rd. Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of vehicle 1 was traveling west on Jefferson Blvd. at a high rate of speed and possibly ran the light at Jefferson/Engle and collided with vehicle 2 that was traveling south on Engle Rd.

The driver of vehicle 2 (adult female) was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. The driver of vehicle 1 (adult male) was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It is believed that speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the accident. A blood draw and toxicology analysis will be performed on driver 1 of the accident, which is standard procedure for all fatal accidents.

This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD F.A.C.T team (fatal accident crash team), Allen County Coroners and Prosecutors Offices.
