FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – There’s no crying in baseball, but there is a baseball movie night coming up at Parkview Field. While many fans have felt like shedding a tear in a year with no Minor League Baseball season, the Fort Wayne TinCaps are welcoming fans to their ballpark for safe and physically-distanced fun on the night of Friday, Sept. 11 with a screening of A League of Their Own, presented by Lancia Homes. The movie will be shown on Parkview Field’s brand new HD LED video board.
Tickets for the Parkview Field Movie Night are $15 each and include a reserved seat, a voucher for a hot dog, a bag of chips, and a drink. Chairback seats in the main seating area of the ballpark will be assigned to ensure proper social distancing. Capacity will be limited to the first 1,000 fans that purchase tickets.
Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. with the movie set to start at 7:15 and conclude at approximately 9:30.
Masks must be worn by fans while entering, exiting, and moving around Parkview Field. (Masks may be removed when in reserved seats and distanced from other guests.) The TinCaps ask that fans keep in mind the health, comfort, and enjoyment of those around them.
A concession stand and The Orchard Team Store will be open during the event. All transactions will be cashless.
In addition to social distancing, Parkview Field is equipped with new hand-sanitizing stations around the venue. Staff will be routinely sanitizing the ballpark during the event, too.
The Parkview Field Movie Night is rain or shine, with no refunds, pass-outs, or exchanges.
Fans seeking more than eight seats together or ADA accessible seating can contact the team by emailing [email protected].
A League of Their Own (1992), starring Geena Davis and Tom Hanks, is a sports-comedy drama based on the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. The Fort Wayne Daisies played in the AAGPBL from 1945-54, making them the third longest-tenured club in the league’s history. Some elements of the movie are said to be inspired by members of the Daisies.
