CDC: Be Careful in Gyms

Following coronavirus outbreaks at gyms in Chicago and Honolulu, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned users to be careful.

The CDC says shouting class instructors, and heavily breathing participants are ways COVID-19 can easily spread, especially when people who are infected take part in these activities.

The organization says, “It’s very important for individuals who would like to attend a gym and work out to be cognizant of what the COVID symptoms are, and to be aware that if you are feeling something that looks and feels like a COVID-19 symptom, to stay home as a precaution.”

They note that exercising outdoors is a better bet, but otherwise, the usual guidance applies – wear a mask, follow social distancing guidelines, and work out in gyms with plenty of ventilation.
