Woman charged after fatal stabbing

UPDATE (October 15, 2019): Fort Wayne police have now arrested a woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend after an argument on Sunday.

Lakeshia James, 27, is in custody in connection with Sunday’s fatal stabbing at 911 Francis Street near the East Central Towers & Gardens apartment complex.

O’sha D.K. Booher-Ford, 26, was found stabbed in the chest. The Allen County coroner said his death is a homicide in an announcement released Monday afternoon.

James is facing preliminary charges of aggravated battery and domestic battery, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Court documents reveal that Booher-Ford was James’ boyfriend of five years and that he would stay at her apartment frequently.

Sunday morning, James woke up around 8 and began to look through O’sha’s cell phone because there has been infidelity. She says that is when the argument started with O’sha. James said she asked him to leave her apartment several times.
She said he wouldn’t and that he took her cell phone and would not give it back so she went to the kitchen and grabbed a kitchen knife. James, according to the probably cause affidavit, says she went back to the bedroom where O’sha was and started to wave the knife around asking for O’sha to leave and to give her cell phone back.

She says he still refused and the argument continued. James says that is when she moved in and wanted to “knick” O’sha with the knife and used it to stab him in the chest. James says she held the knife and stabbed in a downward motion one time. She told investigators that she did not think O’sha’s injury was serious but then called 911 after what she said was several seconds.

O’sha D.K. Booher-Ford is the 21st homicide in Allen County for 2019.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
