Two men facing charges after police chase ends in crash


FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – FWPD officials say that two men are facing charges after a police chase on Sunday night. At approximately 9:24 PM, Detectives with the Fort Wayne Police Department Gang and Violent Crimes Unit attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Spring Street and Wells Street.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and fled northbound in an alley.
Detectives pursued the suspect vehicle for approximately two minutes before it crashed at the intersection of Cortland Avenue and Clayton Avenue. The suspect vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree and another parked vehicle. There were two adult/males inside the suspect vehicle and both were taken into custody without incident.

The driver of the vehicle was treated for very minor injuries at a local hospital and released. He was arrested for felony resisting law enforcement and felony habitual traffic violator (HTV driving status). The passenger was transported to a local hospital and was admitted
reference non-life threatening injuries. Upon being released from the hospital, the passenger has two felony arrest warrants and an onsite felony drug charge.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
