‘Person of interest’ apprehended in toddler’s death

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say they have identified and apprehend the Person of Interest in the death of a toddler off Joshua Lane.

FWPD officials say that Trevon Bishop was taken in on Thursday night.

Officers were initially called to the investigation at 4300 Joshua Lane Thursday afternoon.

Soon after, they called the toddler’s death “suspicious” and put out the word to the community.

“We are looking for a person of interest in a suspicious death of a toddler. Trevon Bishop is a male, black, age 23, 5’6” #161, black hair, brown eyes. He currently has an outstanding warrant for Carrying a Handgun without a Permit. Please call 911 with current information or if you know where we can find Trevon Bishop.”

Police have not yet released further information about the child’s death but say that Bishop was taken into custody and is currently being held on his warrant charges.
