Coroner identifies victims in triple-shooting

UPDATE: Details are now being released about the two victims that died in a triple shooting Wednesday.

The Allen County Coroner released the following Thursday afternoon:

“The Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of the fatal shooting investigation located in the 2400 block of Barnhart Avenue at about 0030 hours on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. Mon Ong, male asian, 21 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second male and a female were transported from the scene to a local hospital. The autopsy has been completed and next of kin has been notified in the death of Mon Ong. The Cause of Death has been determined to be a Gunshot Wound of the Chest and the
Manner of Death is Homicide. Mon Ong is the 7th Homicide in Allen County for 2020.
The female that was transported from the scene has also died and has been identified as Brooke J. Wendel, female white, 23 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana. The autopsy has been completed and the next of kin has been notified of her death. The Cause of Death has been determined to be Gunshot Wound of the Head and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Brooke J. Wendel is the 8th Homicide in Allen County for 2020.”

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Three people are in custody for a shooting in Fort Wayne that killed two and sent a third person to the hospital. The shooting happened at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at 2405 Barnhart.

Police say a man and a woman died in the shooting, while a second man was rushed to the hospital. By 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon, Fort Wayne Police say their Gang and Narcotics Unit arrested three people for the shooting. There is no word on a motive in the case, though the suspects are charged with drug possession and robbery in addition to murder.

The Allen County Coroner says a second person has died after a triple shooting early Wednesday morning.

The following was issued to the media shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday:

“The Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of the triple shooting investigation in the 2400 block of Barnhart, where one victim was pronounced at the scene, and two were transported to a local hospital. The female victim has died and is under the care of the Allen County Coroner’s Office. Autopsies on scheduled for tomorrow February 27, 2020, and more information will be provided at the conclusion of the autopsies.”

ORIGINAL STORY:
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say one person was killed and two others have critical injuries after a shooting early Wednesday.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the report of a shooting at 2405 Barnhart Avenue. They located three adult victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Medical personnel on the scene declared an unidentified male victim deceased. The other male and female victims were transported to local hospitals for life-threatening injuries.

There is a person of interest at this time that the Fort Wayne Police Homicide Team is attempting to locate and investigate. Crime Scene Units are currently processing the crime scene. The identity of the victim will be released by the Allen County Coroner after they have been identified by the family.
