Man killed in shooting Thursday night on Werling Drive

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say one man is dead following a shooting on the city’s southeast side Thursday night.

Officers were called to 4600 Werling Drive for an unknown problem at 11:19 p.m. Upon arrival to that area, officers found a man in the street. He was suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wound(s). Officers were told that several callers called for a man in the street and reported hearing gunshots just prior to seeing the man. Medics arrived and pronounced the male deceased at the scene.

Homicide, Crime Scene and ASU Units were called to the scene for the investigation. They will be interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence to help determine what occurred. The identity of the male will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office pending notification of the next of kin.

FWPD officials say that officers did apprehend a Person of Interest, Trevon Bishop, this evening after 10pm. He was taken into custody and is currently being held on his warrant charges
