Indiana sending National Guardsmen to long term care facilities

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The first of what will be over 1,300 Indiana National Guardsmen will head to the state’s long-term care facilities on Monday.

Governor Eric Holcomb ordered the troops to nursing homes and other care centers because of the spike in coronavirus cases there. The guardsmen will handle coronavirus testing, tracing, registration, and wellness checks.

The hope is that will free up workers at the care facilities to provide other care. In all, 1,350 troops will go to 133 different facilities across the state.
