Crash near Pokagon State Park sends two to the hospital

STEUBEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Officials in Steuben County say a crash Saturday sent two men to the hospital in a medical chopper.
At approximately 8:53 P.M., Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a single vehicle accident at SR 727 and LN 100 Lake James at the entrance to Pokagon State Park. When emergency response vehicles arrived, they found a 2013 Dodge Avenger that was involved in a single vehicle accident. Emergency response units found 2 occupants in the vehicle pinned.

During the investigation of the crash, it was found that the vehicle was driven by, Nicholas Sanner, 31 of Lima, OH and his passenger Ronald Sanner, 55 of Lima, OH were traveling westbound on SR 727 when they ran off the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree pinning Nicholas and Ronald.

After extrication, Nicholas and Ronald were then airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN via Samaritan Air for treatment of injuries. Nicholas and Ronald were both wearing their seatbelts and alcohol is believed to be a factor. The crash is still under investigation at this time.
