FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – In September, Mayor Ton Henry released his plan to fund the city.
The proposed budget went to a vote Tuesday night at Fort Wayne City Council’s meeting. Initially, there were a reported $5 million dollars up for cuts. In the end, about $1 million dollars was cut from the proposed plan. The roughly $300 million dollar budget passed in a 7-2 vote.
Mayor Henry’s office released the following:
Fort Wayne is a city on the move that’s experiencing growth and success like never before. Tonight’s passage of the budget for 2024 with minimal cuts demonstrates how well we’re doing financially, and the best days are ahead of us. Fiscal discipline and management are critical as we work with residents, neighborhoods, and businesses to invest in projects and initiatives that will make a lasting and meaningful difference.
My administration is committed to helping make Fort Wayne the best city possible to live, work, and play. I’m looking forward to substantial investments in neighborhood infrastructure in 2024 as well as a continued commitment to public safety and parks. Fort Wayne is a city like no other. It’s encouraging to know that the positive momentum we’ve built will continue now and into the future.
