CROWN POINTE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Lake County Prosecutor’s Office is asking Indiana State Police to investigate the deaths of several canines in Lake Station.
The dogs were discovered in the back of a box truck heading from O’Hare International Airport in Chicago to a training facility in Michigan.
It happened on July 27th of this year.

The Lake County Prosecutor’s Office has requested the Indiana State Police to investigate the recent deaths of multiple canines in Lake Station, Indiana. This case originated on July 27, 2023, when numerous canines were discovered in the back of a box truck traveling from O’Hare International Airport in Chicago to a training facility in Michigan.
Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact the Indiana State Police Detective Chris Eagles at 219-690-0043. No further information will be given at this time as this is an active investigation.

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (ADAMS) – At least eight dogs have died while being transported to a K-9 training facility in Indiana. More than a dozen German Shepards were being driven from the Chicago O’Hare International Airport when the AC unit keeping them cool stopped working.
The driver was unaware of the failure and got stuck in a two-hour traffic delay, causing the temperature to rapidly rise and the dogs to go into “heat-related medical distress.”
The Lake Station Police Department offered their “thoughts and prayers” to those affected, calling the incident a “freak event.”
